Our Origin

Born from a Royal Vision

During World War I, global trade routes were disrupted, leaving the Mysore Kingdom with a surplus of its most prized natural resource - sandalwood. Maharaja Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, in established the Government Sandalwood Oil Factory in 1916.

In 1918, Sosale Garalapuri Shastry - known as “Soap Shastry” - created the original formulation blending 100% pure sandalwood oil. In 1980, the factory was restructured as Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL).
